Respect, responsibility, inclusiveness, partnership
For Healthy Respect these values are interdependent and central concepts defining how Healthy Respect aspires to interact. They are embedded in every dimension of the Healthy Respect behaviour change approach and inform service delivery, negotiations, training and communication. In addition Healthy Respect advocates that the values of respect and responsibility shape the relationships, behaviours, aspirations and attitudes of young people.
Respect: By this we mean effective communication; the acceptance of difference; acknowledgement of the rights and feelings of self and others; and the unacceptability of abuse.
Responsibility: By this we mean planned and owned decision making; and the recognition that ‘I am part of a whole’ (i.e. part of this community, family, school, neighbourhood, country, world).
Inclusiveness: By this we mean equitable access for all young people to sexual health information, education and services.
Partnership: By this we mean young people, parents and organisations co-operating in the exchange of specialist resources to achieve the best possible wellbeing of young people. (Resources include expertise, products, literature, access to the network, time and/or money).
